Fallen And Wounded Soldiers

Our Soldiers are going to be in harms way for the foreseeable future. We realize this and understand there are unique needs for the Soldiers and their Families not always met by the Army. The Fallen and Wounded Soldier fund was established in the summer of 2007 to help meet these needs and to date has disbursed over $34,655.91 in funds to cover numerous expenses.  Noteworthy to mention is these proceeds were generously donated by our corporate sponsors and local citizens from the surrounding area.  This fund has donated funds to the families of our Fallen Soldiers to help pay for transportation and funeral expenses, helped with wreaths and memorials and we are now supporting Soldiers with Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) with incidentals.

The Chapter, in partnership with the Fort Drum Chapter of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division, donates Wounded Warrior Support Packs to our Soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Brooks Army Medical Centers and DOD and VA hospitals for the last eight years. The Support Pack consists of a Division Logo backpack that can be hung on a wheelchair or crutches. Inside the backpack are Division logo items including: a Hilton Hotel quality bathrobe, tear away sweats, a hats, a tee shirt and a NFL quality 10th Mt. Div. Football Jersey.

AUSA also supported the Ladies and Youth Faith Groups of Fort Drum for their “Heart to Heart” campaign.  This campaign connects the faith communities of Fort Drum and the North Country to our 10th Mtn. Division Wounded Warriors and their families throughout the world.  Mr. Miguel De Angel created the poster (right), “You’re Never Alone.  We believe in you.” for this campaign and for use by the NNY-Fort Drum AUSA chapter.
